Aloha and Welcome to The Reef!
The Reef is a community of kind, smart people many of whom find their way here from the Internet TV Show, Beach Walks with Rox. (It's playing in the left column.) In nature, the reef is where animals and plants are alive and thriving in living color! It is the place just off shore from the safety and security of the land, what we think of as the known world. On the other side of the reef is the deep blue sea, where dreams are hatched and the unknown supports us in powerful ways.
We hang out here to have conversations and support about a wide range of topics. Diversity of opinion is welcome. If you are coming to Hawaii, let Shane and Rox know - we try to arrange meetups now and then, especially when visitors are in town.
Susan, of "Susan and my dog Lexie" is our guardian angel, who greets new members and helps keep it friendly here.

Kauai--Steady camera high def video
I first saw a link to this You Tube video from a tweet that was re-tweeted from the Kauai YMCA. I have been watching it many times over the last 2 days initially trying to figure out the means for all the seemingly super steady (as mounted on dolly) shots done.
With the vivid color, depth of field, motion and other methods used, along with the soundtrack, this fast cut edited video is very effective. Of course this type of video is paced to images. There is no narration at…

Video to anual paddling shore relay on Kauai Mother's day weekend.
For today you can see video of start preparations and finsh of the one/two man outrigger canoe race I have visited out on Kauai in past.
(Commentary on video--update 6hrs post race. Unfortunate that most of video seems just raw coverage and lacks much commentary except in spots when participants are engaged on camera by chance. Beautiful Spain
I live in the UK and a while back I had the opportunity of working in the south of Spain. So I packed my bags and left and stayed for a while... 10 years in total!

90 Days to go.....but who's counting
Well it is only 90 days and I will be back in the land of Sand and Surf. We leave for a months stay on the Hawaiian islands on the first of April. We planned this trip nearly a year in advance and have really missed not going there since January of 2009. The islands have become our families favorite vacation destination. Summer Fun
It was a great get away and learning experience for me. I went to what is called a GS Challenge. The owners of BMW GS motorbikes get together and run a series of challenging courses to see how well you do and to learn how to ride in adverse conditions. The challenges I thought would be the hardest I passed with out a problem Try riding a 500 lb bike though deep sand!!! Made It! and it was very kewl to put my trust in the bike and my skills and make through no problem.
